I just got home from my four nights camping at the Crawfordsville KOA. I will stay there again if I am in the area. The campground itself was filled with shade from trees, and the sites had Rose of Sharon bushes (one of my favorites--I have five at home), hostas, and other flowers and bushes to make them more attractive than a standard flat, barren campground that we all too often encounter. Most of the driveways and the sites themselves are gravel. I enjoyed the quiet campsite, and the trees and bushes made me feel as though I didn't have neighbors close by. A recreation area is provided for youth (or those who think they are) with a basketball goal and some other equipment. Outdoor games are available at the pool area. The campground is pet friendly and provides an enclosed dog play area, designated dog walking areas, and waste bag dispensers provided around the park. The pool was well-kept and clean (has one of those gadgets crawling over it to keep it that way), and the bathrooms and showers were attractive (more flowers :) ), clean, and well-maintained. I didn't stay in the cabins, but small one-room cabins are available, and hanging planters of flowers decorate the porch on those. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the office area provides staples for those who might have forgotten something when they packed (don't we all?). The campground provides free wifi which is a bit sketchy, depending upon location in the campground, and I felt safe there. Access to the campground itself was easy, and with pull-through sites, getting into the site was easier than parking my trailer at home.

Campground: Crawfordsville KOA Journey City, State: Crawfordsville, Indiana Check-in: July 10, 2022 Check-out: July 11, 2022 Site Number: 01 We Liked: Right off of I-74. Swimming pool open until 10. Quiet campground. Lots of shade trees. Playground and basketball court. Bathrooms and showers clean. We Didn't Care For: Gravel site was very uneven. Roads very narrow. Water hook up had 2 spouts and one hung over electric box. Once water turned on there was a small drip from one not hooked up to that could not be turned off. Spot 02 had a steady stream coming from it. Cable hook up required a splitter. Overall Assessment: It was definitely a Journey - in and out - that is what we wanted. Kids were very happy the pool was open until 10 since we had been on the road all day. It seemed as though many of the campers were semi-permanent (maybe seasonal workers at area farms). The woman that helped checked us in was very friendly. There seemed to be a focus on gardening as there were plants and gardens everywhere. We had to unhook the TOAD but were able to park nearby.

The front desk was dark when I checked in during the middle of the afternoon which felt a little unwelcoming compared to other KOA’s. The staff was friendly. We didn’t use the pool but it looked clean. The location is good for a quick overnight stay. Most of the spots are uneven and difficult to pull in to. They had a few campers that appear to be abandoned but we did see someone go in and out of one of the campers (see pics posted). For this reason I am not recommending a stay here. Keep looking for other places.

I gave 3 stars as the office lady was very friendly & easy to work with as we were staying while my husband worked in the area. The sites were large but they desperately need to put some money into the park itself. The main road is pavement but after that the rest USED to be gravel and have since turned into mostly mud. Our site had very little gravel even to park our camper on #26. It was muddy when we arrived and rained the entire time. We stepped in 3-4 inches of mud to get in & out our the front door. Walking the dogs was a nightmare as there was no way to keep them from being COVERED in mud. The site we were on also had erosion & the water from other sites and the road ran directly in front of our door causing a river. They need to level everything & gravel the spots WELL and really pave the roads. KOA's are known for being extremely well kept as you pay for it with the prices. It could be a wonderful park if they would do these things for sure. Again, the staff is super helpful though.

We have a small RV and travel with our 47lb Springer Spaniel. There was no issue for us staying at the Crawfordsville KOA. This past summer we camped at KOA and other campgrounds from Virginia to Washington State then went to Alaska and back through Canada and no Campground objected to our dog. Some KOAs restrict dogs in their camping cabins. On a prior trip I recall one KOA that didn't allow dogs in some of their camping cabins but fortunately that time we were able to get one of the dog allowed cabins. I do recall that some campgrounds had restrictions on certain dog breeds such as pit bulls. If you have concerns the only way to be certain would be to call them.
