After spending a week in Portland and a week in Seattle as bicycle tourists, this is the only restaurant that the kids and I felt like we had to go back to- even though lots of others were excellent. The almond croissants, cheese danishes, Marion berry danishes, snicker doodle cookies, and the bagels are all in the top 5% of the ones I’ve eaten in the 7 US cities I’ve lived in (tied w Twisted Croissant in NE Portland, but wider selection). We regret not having another week to try all of the different bakery items. Plus almost everything is organic and the prices are reasonable. Espresso based drinks were good and much better than average, so the 5 stars is for bakery items and sandwiches.

Great place to grab morning coffee and a snack before a day of diving out hiking. Tasty treats, good coffee, and a fun aesthetic. I'll definitely be back here many more times.

The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. It was the 5 of us on our last visit and everyone loved their food. They don’t have coconut milk for lattes/mochas but they do have almond, soy and oat milk. We visited in February of 2022 and indoor dining was not allowed but they did have a few tables available out on their covered patio. Their menu is pretty extensive for a bakery - they have soups, salads, paninis, sandwiches, bagels and pastries.

Grateful Bread is definitely a place with its own character and charm. Old school and even a bit funky decor, neighborhood atmosphere, friendly service. The food offering is wide and various. They have everything from bread to bagels to cookies and pastries, of which I only had the butter croissant. It's on the flaky side and I really like its salty (rather than sweet) flavor. On the other hand, the layers are thicker than usual and overall it needs a little bit more air.

Great! No entrance without a mask, paying is touchless (no cash), they have space markers and will have lines outside if there's too many people

Can you have coffee at the establishment?
