Ufcw 3000 is a scam. They do nothing to protect employees. They are only concerned with taking your money. They will not take any account of employer negligence into account. My employer Safeway went against union protocol since day one. My youngest brother died in August and my father died in January of 2022. The Starbucks manager never had the schedule I time, I never knew my schedule daily, and when my work shoes, medication went missing, I told the director of Safeway and nothing was resolved . Finally I had had it and exploded at the Starbucks manager and walked out. I called the union that day, and texted the director would not come in until a union rep was present which is my right, and the union took weeks to responsible. They closed the case siding with safeway and Thier account of what happened without any statement from me, and completely disregarded the 30 plus text and schedules I sent them pricing Safeway broke protocol first. They accepted all the fraudulent evidence provided by the Starbucks manager, and disregarded the evidence of the a the schedules I had sent them the same day I walked out.i provided text correspondence with the Manager Karla about when do I work less than 24 hours not knowing with no response. But what they decided was the actions that happened due to Safeway breaking protocol was enough to close my case. Unions are there to protect our rights not side with the employers. This union is a scam and care nothing about the employees. I am going to Crete a class action law suit against this union and highly suggest employees that have been duped into thinking the are protected join the lawsuit . We cannot have union reps siding with the employerrs. Out of Thier own negligent, behavior. Or deciding that an employee is not worth defending or a threat because employer's followed You home and assumed your were not a threat. Well ignorance is bliss. And this union is a pure 100 percent scam that will never protect your rights. I have seen this union protect non citizens before protecting natural born citizens rights and this must cease. Please call for action, join the class action lawsuits against this sham of a union.

I have worked in the industry for 28 years now. I know what a union is and what they are capable of doing. I feel confident that the benefits of belonging to a union far out way the negatives! I encourage new employees to go to a new member meeting to better understand what a union is. I truly wish more members would be active. Member actions or inactions have made the union what it is now, and members action will make it what it is tomorrow. If you arm yourself with knowledge, you are better able to defend yourself and your family. Learn what the positives and negatives of a union are and you won't be surprised, hurt, or offended when events come your way. Take action and make things better, don't be lazy and complain.

This union does nothing for its employees. My wife is over 40 and a journeyman, yet was hired in and remains below the pay of younger workers just starting. They have completely ignored her, and there is never a representative at the store. You pay your dues, and the union spends your money on themselves. UFCW 21 is corrupt beyond description. DO NOT PAY YOUR DUES! It is the only way to get their attention; And take a look at how the ratings are divided. Obviously, every person working at the UFCW office has given themselves five stars to buoy the terrible ratings! Here's a tip, UFCW: fix yourself instead of lying.

No zero star rating option? I Worked under this union for 7 years. Medical/vision/dental never worked, and was billed astronomically. but that's small potatoes compared to the ghastly things that happened to me and others. During my tenancy I was abused in the manager's office and back rooms every few days for hours on end. I called, texted.... Nothing. I contacted another rep out of area, because Rep Leroy wouldn't do his job. I even went outside of agency. They never stopped. I should have called law enforcement. I walked out last year. I found out the same exact abuse happened to about another half dozen employees. They tried calling leroy too. No response. The rep never visited the store. I saw him a couple times in my 7 year tenancy there. The evil is all behind us all now. I'm slowly recovering, but I don't talk to the others anymore. I hope they are bouncing back slowly like I am. I will never work for a "union" again in my life. Mark my words. If anything ever goes south like this at work, I'm contacting a lawyer and law enforcement next time.

I'm in Burien, outside of Seattle.
Sounds like the one handling my mother's issues. I am LIVID and something needs to be done. If they cannot represent and protect their staff they not to STOP TAKING THEIR DUES!
Maybe just mind your business
Thanks for the clarification. I hope Macy's offer is fair.
In sorry to hear of your lose. You should call directly and promptly.Depending on your negotiated contract you may be entitled to some form of death benefit.
When you leave a union job it is important to contact the union and let them know. Your employer is not obligated to relay most changes, such as employment status or new contact information. When you inform them about leaving the union, ufcw 21 will send you a withdrawal card which entitles you to waive an initiation fee if you return within a couple years, and may also send you a check for the final week's dues. But as far as getting all paid dues returned? No. Dues are an expense paid for services rendered. Representation was made available during your employment, even if you didn't use it.
I can only speak for my own contract, but Article 7.1.1 states that paid holidays are federally established. To be more specific, 7.1 states employees hired after December 3rd, 2010 need to be employed 6 consecutive months before they can get holiday pay. That said, the paid holidays are: New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Looking at that list, it appears Columbus Day is not a paid holiday.
