I could have rated this Wendy's in Benson, AZ lower because they seemed to be dealing with a staffing shortage. It was a long wait in the drive-thru. But the employee's cheerful attitude in this high pressure situation was commendable.

I am not one to make a public bad review of a a fast food restaurant, however had a very bad experience eating at Wendy's in Benson, Arizona on July 2, 2022 at 4:30pm. Ordered a plain grilled chicken sandwich. Noticed on the receipt that it had plain with mayonnaise. Went up to counter before receiving the sandwich to clarify no mayonnaise. The cashier said we ordered with mayonnaise and we said no, just plain. He stated he would correct the order. Received the first one sandwich with mayonnaise, even after our attempt to get the correct order. The second sandwich came out as a crispy, breaded chicken with lettuce and tomato but not grilled. After the 2 attempts we finally decided to call it done. Yes, we were upset, but the young lady claiming she was a manager would not listen and accused us of cussing out the cashier. She was very unprofessional, not exhibiting proper customer service and stated that the employee was a minor and doesn't need to listen to an abusive customer. We did not use vulgar language and all we wanted to do was to inform about the mistakes that was made and that is when she accused us for using bad language and being abusive. We waited a total time of 30 minutes for the 2 attempts. We did get a refund for the sandwich. As I was there, I noticed some questionable processes, as some people were in the food preparation area standing around eating and waiting for food, such as possible contractors or maintenance workers. Should they not be waiting and eating in the customer area, not in the preparation area, especially wearing dirty work clothes? Employees wearing flip flops, not washing hands after touching their face or hair. The restaurant was dirty, dried ketchup on the end of the pump dispensers, drink station full of sticky dried pop, dirt and trash on the floor, chairs and tables not cleaned. Trash was over flowing. We did not observe the restaurant being slammed with a rush and not very busy for the half hour plus that we were there. Seemed like an overflow of employees in the back area, which normally is understaffed. I understand the times are difficult, but this is the last time we eat in Benson Arizona Wendy's!

We had drive thru after high school graduation on the fact that it was the only thing open. We waited 56 minutes for are food. I felt so bad for the two workers they had.. Everyone called out.. food was hot and fresh.
