Wish I would’ve had the friendly and helpful staff everyone is raving about here. They were quite short and rude. Definitely surprised by it. Next time I’ll go back to California to work with the kind and helpful officers there....actually anywhere but the Seattle office!

No one answered my email or phone call. It’s been a month trying to contact them.

The best experience I've had applying for a travel visa! The security guard, the two staff that were helping me file my visa we're so friendly and helpful! Very clean and quiet 👌 10/10

Friendly and humble staff/officer! The google map takes you to the address 701 Union Street, take the stairs up to the building with [homestreet] bank. This is small office with friendly security and staff. You go through the security, get a token, if no-one is at the window you could press a button. The 3 times I went there there were not more than 3 people. You get the token, you see your number, go up to the window, they collect the token number, collect your documents and forms, ask you to wait for 5 minutes until they review the documents, then they call you back at the window and give you instructions/receipt for the next step. I went to collect my passport in 5 business days but it was not ready. The officer apologized and he gave me a call later to tell me when I should expect it to be ready. The process was easy and painless. Looking forward to visit Japan now!

From what I have read, and I am going in early April, your Visa is issued to you when you enter Japan at customs, with a valid US passport. I am not a local guide, just a US citizen. My information is from the most recent Lonely Planet travel guide, an excellent source if you are traveling to Japan.
I do not think so and for sure to call consulate about that.
Yes
Go to the consulate website to see if your nationality (the country who issued your passport) is on the visa exemption country list. If it is, you don’t need a visa for just a short visit. If not, you have to follow the visa requirements on their website to obtain a visa.
Hi Ed, since your passport is expired might have to get a new one. Here is the website for the Japanese Consulate. https://www.seattle.us.emb-japan.go.jp/itprtop_ja/index.html Go down to "New issuance", it should tell you what you need to do. Good luck
That is the best way. They'll have to go there to get a replacement anyway.
If you are a US citizen or a citizen from another country with a visa waiver program, you do not need a visa if you stay less than 90 days.
