US Forest Service Ranger Station

Bad hours. Closed for lunch. Took me five stops here to finally make it inside. But it is a USFS Ranger Station, the most underfunded and backlisted gov't organization due to political BS, so they get a 76 star handicap.

Not much help. She only knew about her immediate area. For a Ranger station I expected more information and the hours to be more accommodating to campers and travelers. I learned more from Google and Campendium. I was able to buy a National Forest pass though.

Just drove all the way out to Enumclaw to get Christmas tree permits (because I like to follow laws). Sign say 'sold out'. Evidently, the "forest" is out of "trees"! Since when does the government decide I can't take MY family into MY woods to have a day of fun getting a tree??? Government overreach much??? Also, what's up with the "no firearms" sign? What are they afraid of??? Not to mention, the web site said they were open the hours I got there, but were actually closed for a "meeting". What, so they can make up more restricted rules for us??? SMDH!!!

We came in asking about the best local hikes and which passes we need. The USFS guy was wonderful! He was helpful and genuinly happy to help. Gave us handouts, maps and lots of great ideas. The service was top notch and I look forward to go back and browse the cool birding, wildflower books and more great hikes! Our hike that day, on his recommendation was the best hike I've ever been on! Gorgeous, just what we wanted! Definitely an asset to our community!
