Amazing variety of cast-offs from the university. I would rather not recommend it to others so it's not as popular, but hey, why not go get lost in imaging the potential of having your own centrifuge or stereoscope.

Questions & Answers

Any hockey stuff?

Timothy Whitacre | Jul 10, 2022
Benjamin Mcdermott | Jul 10, 2022

The inventory is constantly changing so you'll have to go yourself to find out. Last time I went they had some baseball gear, but the selection of sports equipment is not very large.

Do you take paint for drop off?

Mike Reimann | Jun 10, 2022
Todd Tanner | Jun 10, 2022

We do not accept materials from the general public. We are a surplus facility for the University of Minnesota only.

Do you still need a reservation to visit?

Annette Keenan | Nov 7, 2021
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 7, 2021

No appointments needed at this time, we are open for public sale Thursday 8:30am to 5pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm.

Do you have any auto accessories?

Adam | Nov 7, 2021
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 7, 2021

Although we do occasionally get automotive materials from Fleet Services, this is not something we normally have available.

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

Anonymous | Nov 7, 2022
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 7, 2021

We are by appointment only, no walk ins available. The appointment system reduces the number of people on site at any one time. Facemasks without cool flow vents are required and we are checking temperatures at the door. We request people do there best to maintain 6 feet or more from staff and any other customers.

In need of manila folders. Do you have any?

Kathryn Beaulieu | Nov 7, 2021
Todd Tanner | Nov 7, 2021

Yes we do. We give them away for free. How many do you need?

Do you have wood storm windows?

Liz Genovese | Nov 7, 2020
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 7, 2020

Not at this time. Although it is an item we could get it is not common here. I recommend trying a Habitat for Humanity ReStore or the Better Futures warehouse, they are more likely to have building type materials then us.

Where is the Habit ReStore?

Where do I park?

Barbara Everson | Nov 7, 2020
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 7, 2020

There are metered spots and a marked handicap spot in our parking lot in front of the building. Please do not park in the contract parking as you can receive a ticket for taking one of those spots. On our public sale days you can also park in our loading dock area. the signs in that area says 30 minute loading and unloading, but you can also use it for just shopping and the 30 minutes is not enforced on public sale days.

Where do the profits go from the sales?

B. | Nov 8, 2019
University of Minnesota ReUse Program | Nov 8, 2019

Proceeds from sales go into the Waste Recoveries Services budget. Over all the ReUse Program operates at a deficit. The primary purpose of the ReUse Program is waste stream diversion, not revenue generation. On average, the ReUse Program sells, donates or redistributes back to the University 1 million pounds of material annually.

Is this the same Reuse Center that I visited prior to 2009? That program seemed more like the one for the Habitat ReStore but not the same location. They had donated items from tear downs and rebuilds. Your seems like University donated items.

Diane Bush | Nov 8, 2018
Frank Beissel | Nov 8, 2018

This reuse center is focused on surplus stuff from the U of MN. I think the other one is called a ReStore.
