I spent an excruciating 5 hours in the lobby with an IV needle in my arm that was not even needed, it only made my discomfort worse. There is no concern for people, their health, or their privacy. I know all healthcare workers have been through so much in the past 2 years and there is a very notable sense of burnout, but we are still people who need care and compassion. I had extreme kidney pain due to diabetic complications with COVID. When I arrived, I had an N95 mask on and asked if there was a section for COVID-positive patients. I was told no, to just sit anywhere in the lobby. So there is no protection for those who were not COVID positive and there were a lot of people in the lobby coughing up a lung, with their masks down under their chins, below their nose, or not wearing them at all. They do require masks to enter, but once you are in, no one cared to enforce keeping masks on. The bathrooms and entire place were incredibly filthy, including blood drops on the floor. They misplaced my urine sample. There was no concern for HIPPA either since doctors came out to the lobby to give patients their results for everyone to hear. When I was taken back for a CT scan, I noticed most of the rooms were empty, so I don't know why they were treating patients out in the lobby. There seemed to be no communication between staff; they were scattered, unorganized, and uncaring. At discharge, after a very long 5 hours in pain without any actual care, I was left alone in the small intake room for 30-minutes before I left. It took another 15 minutes for anyone to notice that I had left since they called me to inquire. This meant I would have been alone in that room for 45-minutes. This was the worst ER experience.

I had surgery here a couple weeks ago and just got a "get well" card from my nurses, so I felt I should write a review. Everything about my surgery went off without a hitch and amazingly on time. Within 10 minutes of signing in to the hospital, I did registration and was taken up to the surgical floor. Immediately had help from multiple nurses and met the anesthesiologist and doctor themselves. I did have to wait for surgery itself, but only because everything before hand was done so quickly. I was wheeled into the OR exactly 1 minute before my scheduled surgery and that's unheard of in my experience. When I came out of surgery, I had attentive nurses who didn't make me feel rushed like I needed to get out asap because they needed the bed space. Was wheeled down to my car and sent on my way with meds and discharge papers. My husband was with me and he said everyone was polite and kept him informed. I got a follow-up call 2 days later to see how I was feeling and I have since seen my doctor and spoken to her several times. To be honest, if I ever need surgery again (obviously prefer NOT to have surgery), I would go here if I could.

My daughter gave birth here. If you can avoid it I highly recommend you do. The staff is obviously burned out. Their level of empathy is sadly lacking. The doctors do not listen to the patient. They bullied my daughter into setting appointments with their list of practicioners stating that she could not leave unless she did. They did no education on infant care and when I spoke with them about it they stated it was the family's responsibility. Ok that's fine but if you're limiting visitors then it's the hospital that has to help. She was allowed to labor over 36 hours. After having an emergency c section they gave her Tylenol and ibuprofen while she was there but sent her home with prescription pain medication even though it wasn't offered during her stay. I am very disappointed with the level of care received.

I don’t normally write reviews but I think this one is warranted. Went to Tacoma general tonight for a Ski accident. The front staff members were extremely unprofessional and rude. The triage nurse with the blonde hair and the large mask was extremely nice though. The front desk lady with black hair who would check you in would yell at people if she saw them accompanying their family. Then the nice blonde nurse would calm her down. This lady might need some training. I felt bad for the people she yelled at. The hospital wasn’t that busy but we were treated in the lobby. I’ve never seen that in a hospital that wasn’t even busy. It’s like they just didn’t want to clean the rooms. I overheard one nurse yell at another nurse “that chick in room blank has sores on her stomach”. Literally the most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. I understand that the pandemic has been hard but don’t treat patients like second class citizens. Don’t yell at people. It’s your job to care for others. Get a new career if you hate it. Also shame on the hospital system for not allowing family to accompany patients. People should not have to sit alone after they just hit a tree. Finally, a big shout out to every drug seeker out there, thank you. Because of you, we were refused pain medicine. For actual accidents.
