Beautiful park!! Lots of trees and grass. Great water views, but if you camp across from the water sites, you have a huge open grassy area for the dogs or kids. Water sites do have the bike/walking path, so you get foot traffic on and off. Would definitely go back and camp on the inside loop sites. Leaves were turning and pretty. Across the street from the House of Mary Shrine, which was interesting and beautiful.

Hiked on the Gavins Point Trail at west end of rec area. A very nice hike mostly in trees, with some up and down places, and nice views of lake. We will return in the fall.

This park is so much fun. The lake is beautiful and the park staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I try to come here allot in the spring and fall. Highly recommend.

According to my memory, there are hunting grounds somewhat near here, but in the Recreation Area you cannot hunt, you can fish though.

We had to pay $21 per night plus $6 per night for the S.D. user fee. The site had electricity.
I think the midway and Gavins Pt. beaches are no pets. But there are some beaches along the bike trail where pets can get in the water.
