Springhill was the only place Mom would consider when the time came for her to move to a more secure and safe environment. While she thought she was not ready at first, she soon fell in love with her apartment, and enjoyed the social activities, trips, concerts and dining they had to offer. And we knew there was added security and checks that gave us peace of mind. Mom eventually would come to utilize all the care units offered at Springhill. She was hospitalized numerous times, and it was a comfort to know Forestview would be her place to rehab. They offered excellent therapy, and she became familiar with the staff. Mom had to transfer to Oakview (assisted living) the day after the COVID lockdown came into place. Imagine having to move to a new unit, cannot see family and dealing with medical issues. But she grew to love her new unit, she felt safe, and grew to love the staff. The staff became her family. They worked with us to schedule zoom calls, window visits, anything to help Mom adjust and thrive. And she did. They kept her safe from COVID, and the staff took very good care of her. I personally worked closely with the nursing staff and we collaborated on condition changes and doctors appointments. Their team helped us work through tough decisions, and helping to make Mom comfortable. I also want to mention what an asset their transportation bus is---eventually Mom was wheelchair bound outside her unit and on oxygen. It would have been difficult to get her to appointments without this service. I did not want this to be too long but it is difficult to capture all the assets the Springhill Community has to offer. I will forever be grateful to all the staff for taking such good care of Mom.

We've been living, here, in one of the Garden Homes for ten months. It has been a very good move for us. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy. You can take part in as many as you like. Springhill is a very active retirement community. The residents and associates are very friendly and helpful.

Written by Mom Norma Saxton, Resident since 2013: I knew for quite a while that we should move from our large, 2 story home - but my husband was "not ready yet". His health was failing and our ages were contributing to our inability to care for our home and to some degree, ourselves. More and more we had to rely on family. We were familiar with Springhill since our daughter was an Associate there since 2005. She kept us aware of marketing events and recommended that we attend several, which we did. Marketing kept us informed of all that Springhill had to offer. Why did we choose Springhill? After we were shown an apartment - we realized it was just the right size and met all our "requirements". The friendliness of the Residents and the Associates, the full time security, on-staff nurses, planned activities, a chaplain and beautifully kept grounds were added bonuses. Our choice of Springhill, home for 9 years now, was one we never regretted and I know I will be happy here for the rest of my days.

This post is from my mother who has enjoyed living at Springhill. I am also very happy she is there because I know she has made friends and is an active part of this community. “How do you like living at Springhill”? In the three years that I have lived here that is the question so many friends and family ask. Usually I answer that I like it just fine. Now I am thinking it is more than “just fine” *We all age differently, but age we do. The other residents here and I know that growing older is not for sissies. We encourage each other and look out for each other. We share our joys and sorrows. We go on trips together, we eat together, we party together. There is so much offered for our participation. People who grew up in approximately the same decades share memories that children and grandchildren just cannot totally understand. *I have had two medical emergencies that were quickly evaluated by the nursing and therapy staff and appropriately taken care of. Outcomes could have been quite different if I had been living alone. There is a comfortable feeling of safety when you know there will always be someone to come to your aid. *So I do think it is more than “just fine” living at Springhill. It is a great community to join as we age in place together. Elaine Dively
