I had the same experience. I brought my friends here because I used to enjoy this little spot. The bartender ruined our time. We tipped. My friends and I were all very polite and appropriate. She was just lousy.

John, I'm not sure what you normally pay for beer, what type you drink or what are your expectations. The prices seem reasonable for center city establishment.

Very rude and welcoming? Sounds like a typo. I guess you meant UNwelcoming. The REAL question would really be: What did YOU do to elicit a response you didn't like? Actually, it's a simple transaction. Come in. Have ID ready. Order drink(s.) Pay, tip, drink... repeat or leave. No ID? Not his fault. He's not going to risk his job for your mistake. Didn't tip? It's well established that a customer tips, minimum of one dollar a drink. Too many idiots pretend to "not know how it works in the USA" or "forgot." Nah, nice try, pay up. Impatient or didn't like the drink? Too bad. It's not a chic cocktail lounge and often one person works alone. Regardless of what you'd have to say, you know what you did. Maybe you would feel better in a "safe space" bar where trust fund kids whine about the world all day. Anyway, specifically, I have no idea who was working. I don't even live in Philly anymore... From your day drunk typo though, I can tell the problem was YOU.

Yes, but don't go thinking this is a gastropub or anything. Very limited choices.
