If you live in or are even just passing through Luray, definitely worth a stop here. Easy access parking, although small, with great views from there (in the picture). The hike is a good moderate length for the average person, relatively easy going most of it with the exception of the last little bit before the peak. Super cool observation tower up top with great views all around. Absolutely will return.

Starts out easy and gets a little harder due to trail rocks.

Many types. Most are not poisonous, but there are rattlers there too. Be cautious.

Is it safe hiking in this season due to snakes?

There are always snakes around at this time of year on any trail, but if you're alert and pay attention to your surroundings, you should be good. I've never heard of anyone being bitten by a snake on this trail.
