I used to frequent a reputable organic nursery close to downtown, but one never knew how one would be received there. After COVID, I lost my tolerance for retail buzzkill. Enter the Shangri-la that is Plants of the Southwest: Happy, relaxed, helpful staff; beautiful grounds with ample parking; a knockout of an owner who is a cross between Kate Hepburn and Jane Goodall; an encyclopedic catalogue full of wit and wisdom; super-healthy organic plants that are reasonably priced; and a restaurant that makes you feel as if you're at a spa in Tuscany...hence the five stars.

Today I was looking for a Trumpet Vine. I googled and I came across Plants of the Southwest. My first visit. I highly recommend Plants of Southwest. Great customer service, a large variety of native plants and I bought me a Trumpet Vine.

Olive's food is so fresh, beautiful and grounding. I always feel like I went to a healing food retreat when I am lucky enough to get a reservation. Emily's desserts are mind blowing as well and so memorable years later. Grateful for their creatuons and in such a natural and beautiful setting. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

is it too late in the year to spread and plant grass and flower seeds?

Bill | Dec 11, 2021
Plants of the Southwest | Jan 10, 2022

Hi Bill. No, it is not too late to sow seeds. Now is a good time to plant wildflower mixes so that the seeds can cold stratify in the earth. You can also plant cool season grasses (i.e. Fescues, Wheatgrasses, Indian Ricegrass, etc.) or grass mixes with cool season grasses in them. Thank you!
