Very kind staff and extremely knowledgeable vets. Taking your little critter to the vet can often be a stressful and fearful situation but the staff at the clinic go the extra mile to make sure your loved pet is cared for excellently. They were able to schedule me very quickly. The staff is kind and walk you thru the entire process so you feel at ease and can take a sigh of relief knowing your animal will be taken care of in the best possible way. The vet staff is very very thorough and thoughtful, making sure to collect all the pertinent information to provide the best possible care. They discuss all the options available and help you select the most impactful interventions to improve your pet’s health while being conscious of costs and resources. Going to the vet for an urgent or emergency situation can be incredibly stressful, but the staff really went the extra mile. Genuinely incredibly thankful to have found them.

I took my betta fish Leo here today. He has issues with negative buoyancy and fin rot. I exhausted all of the online research methods that I was comfortable trying on my own. This is the only vet for miles, that I found, that takes fish as patients. The staff here really understand that humans can bond with all types of animals. They were very caring about my concern about my fish. There is no judgement from the staff about investing in vet care for your fish. Leo is a special little guy. He is very smart, sweet, and has a huge personality. I wasn't the most informed about fish care, so when he fell sick I wanted to do my best to educate myself and make the investment to hopefully get him on the right track. I met with the fish specialist Isabel. She loves fish and is super knowledgable. He was prescribed an anti-biotic that I hope will get him on the right track. I learned so much during my visit! The cost of the visit and medicine was a bit pricy. It was more than what I spend at the vet for my cat. I also had to travel 2 hrs from Brooklyn. But the service was amazing, I learned a lot, and since the cost was within my means I felt like I ought to do the best thing for my pet. I can use the knew knowledge I've gained moving forward. I've got my fingers crossed that he gets back to 100%. Thank you all at Long Island Bird & Exotics Vet Clinic!

I normally never leave a review for any place I’ve been to, but after my most recent experience at LIBEVC, I had to. I’ve been seeing the office for my Guinea pig for about 4 years at this point. At the beginning I loved the care and attention my piggie was receiving, you could tell the staff was happy to be there and they were very supportive and understanding of my questions and concerns. This past time I had came for a visit, I was disappointed in how I was treated. When I got to the office for my appointment, they didn’t have a private room available for my piggie and I. I would’ve been more than happy to wait for a room to open up, but instead I was kept out in the lobby while they took my piggie. They came back and asked me all the personal questions in the lobby in front of other clients. It was very unprofessional to have to explain out loud my issues my pet is having in front of random strangers. I felt uncomfortable answering questions that I normally would answer in private with only the assistance or vet, not in front of other clients. Not only that, but the girl who was assisting me was very rude, she was giving me attitude as if I didn’t know how to take care of my Guinea pig. She would constantly ask me if I’m understanding basics, such as holding a Guinea pig, making it seem like I didn’t know how to properly care for my piggie who I adore more than the world. She was very abrupt and I felt very rushed being there. I felt very embarrassed and uncomfortable, not being able to have the comfort of my own room at the vet with my Guinea pig, having the entire office hear the issues and personal information I have, and dealing with a rude assistant. I had a great experience with this office until my most recent visit. Unfortunately, I will not be returning because of my past appointment which is very saddening as I appreciate my doctor who has been assisting me, but the other aspects were very disappointing .

I believe for a check up it should be about 85. dollars unless your Quaker parrot is ill it will most likely cost more. Very good doctors. They are Avian doctors so they are better than going to a regular veterinarian.

I'm sorry I don't know the price but I will tell you they are very good. I have a ferret and my last vet completely missed diagnosised him and this vet took care of the issue. I will only go back to them. They constantly call and email me for check ups. Emails can be sent to the vet also. I really feel their team cares for the animals and I'm happy to refer them to anyone but cost of other animals I'm not aware of. The team is unbelievably friendly and seems to care for all animals.

Maria Ruparsic | Nov 7, 2019
Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic | Nov 7, 2019

Hello Maria, We are an exotics specialty clinic so we see all exotics animals, including snakes. My best advice would be to make an early appointment (10 a.m) to try to avoid seeing other animals. While I can't promise a snake will not be here at that time the chances are less likely if you are the first appointment. If you would like to make an appointment please call 516-482-1101 and I will gladly schedule an appointment for you. Thank you, Alexis
