Chris Burns is the best attorney!! I wish I could give above 5 stars because he deserves it. Works hard and has your best interest in mind. The best thing about him is the fact that he cares for you and your family! You feel like family when you first meet him because he truly truly cares about your well being. You are not treated as a “case” or just “another client” like the other firms make you out to be. I met with 4 different firms and as soon as I met Chris it was an immediate yes to go with him without a doubt. His response time is incredible and he keeps you updated throughout the process. Absolutely the best attorney not just in town but in the world! Highly recommend!

You cannot find a more knowledgeable, thorough and, respectful attorney than Chris Burns. I had recently moved across country to Florida to enjoy what Florida has, while riding my bicycle one day, I was struck by a vehicle. It was a challenging case, Mr. Burns proved them wrong.. He is so well organized and knows how to find out critical information relating to a bicycle accident for your claim and with great office support. Side note: Fortunately for me I have an acquaintance of a different bicycle club group attorney for 20 years in California. I called him right after the accident and ask if he knew of a good bicycle knowledge attorney in Florida. Without hesitation he said "Christopher Burns, well experienced and knows what he's doing" period.

Chris Burns is a very talented, competent attorney who helped me following my serious accident. A very compassionate customer service orientated individual. I would recommend him to anyone needing assistance with a cycling injury caused by another party’s negligence

Questions & Answers

Do you charge a fee for an initial consultation?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

We never charge a fee to discuss your case and whether we can assist you. If when you hire us, we don’t charge you anything unless we win your case.

When should I call you?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

The sooner the better. There is a time deadline to make a claim. You don’t want to miss it. The deadlines vary by the jurisdiction and by the type of claim you have. Also, a delay makes it more difficult to investigate the claim fully, to talk to the key witnesses, and for the witnesses to have the best memory of what they saw and heard.

What if I was partially at fault for causing my crash? Does that mean that I have no claim?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

No, not necessarily. Most states have law that says that if another party is partially responsible for causing your accident, then you are entitled to a claim and a recovery.

I am worried about whether it’s the “right thing” to make a claim. What do you think?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

Most claims are made against insurance companies. Insurers don’t provide their insurance for free. They charge a “premium” to their customer for the insurance coverage. If you don’t make an honest claim, you have allowed the insurance company to collect money from the customer without providing the service (paying a legitimate claim).

Should I be awarded my medical bills and lost wages?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

Yes. Not only the medical bills already incurred and lost wages already suffered, but those likely to happen in the future.

Is the other person in my accident going to lose everything if I make a claim?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

No. Usually claims are made against the parties’ insurance company or even your own insurance company. (And don’t worry. It will not negatively affect your insurance if you make a claim).

Will it take years for my case to be resolved?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

Not necessarily. Most cases settle without a trial. Oftentimes, insurance companies fight cases where people are in an accident INSIDE a car because they claim the victim was not really hurt. But this argument virtually never works on a cyclist. We don’t have 4000 pounds of metal protecting us!

Do you bike a lot?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

Yes. I have ridden 100-150 miles per week for more than 35 years. I have ridden the Tour De France route and been able to ride in many different countries. I have ridden road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, and e-bikes. I am too embarrassed to say how many bikes I own.

Have you ever been injured in a bike crash?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

YES. Several times. I have fractured collarbones 3 different times. Both of my collarbones never fully healed. I fractured my ribs, nose, eye orbit, and even cheek. I have undergone surgery to repair my rotator cuff. I have been hit by a car, caused to crash by a dog, and hit the pavement due to an unmarked pothole.

Can you help me to have my bike repaired or replaced due to my crash?

Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021
Christopher G. Burns | Nov 5, 2021

Yes! In conjunction with handling your injury claim for your bike crash, I can help you with your bike damage claim. For example, carbon or composite bike frames are frequently catastrophically damaged even when you cannot see an obvious crack.
