I cashed my IRS refund check at this Amscot. They charged me top dollar to “cash” it. Made me load $5000 on an Amscot money card and money orders for the rest…. Yes money orders! I Made a purchase from Amazon with card … no problem. Then go to use my card to pay for an emergency veterinary visit at 2am and was denied. Had to run to this location to get $2400 before they would start surgery. Explained my situation and they charged me $74 to get $2400 of MY MONEY! Called number on card next day and they tell me THEY put a lock on my card because I made a purchase in Michigan (Amazon purchase). That is why my card was denied. She lifted the lock and I was good to go. But didn’t understand why I was upset about them charging me to get my money when they had my card on lock for no good reason. And without advising me of such.

Sorry but this place is a joke. Why should I be questioned every time I want to deposit money?! You don’t need to know where my money comes from and the amount I make every week especially since I’m depositing and not taking out a loan. Makes no sense.

I had to come and leave a review because I was so impressed at this service. I often come to this Amscot to get money orders and cash checks, the representatives are usually prompt and efficient and gets me in and out. I am not sure if this is usual protocol but I was so impressed when I randomly received a call from this Amscot because someone was trying to cash a money order that I had purchased 3 months ago. Of course I had given this person the money order so they verified the information and went on about the day. This made me feel so secure and safe and taken care of because with all the craziness happening, I feel good knowing that with this large amount of money, had it been stolen or lost, there would have still been a way for me to have it secured . I really appreciated that follow up call and feel safe coming here . Thank you!

Doesn't seem like they have a lot of help. There was only 1 person behind the counter for about 30min and then another person finally come from the back. It was still pretty hectic.
