Most school require you be present
I think a lot of dogs like eating stuff that they find on the ground. You just have to pull them away from the stuff that's on the ground, and keep offering them a good quality dog food. You might try mixing a little bit of canned dog food in with the dry food, at first, to make it more palatable for him/her.
