This is the place.. with Covid happening again .. it makes it really difficult in finding a plastic surgery clinic that still offers consultations and plastic surgery services. With the Virtual Consultation process - Dr William Portuese and his staff make it so easy and convenient... I am looking forward to my new nose. The process was Fast - Convenient - and educational. Thank you Dr William Portuese and his medical staff for taking the time to help me feel comfortable with surgery.

I have been searching for a plastic surgeon in Seattle for awhile specifically for a nose job and found what Im looking for. The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center offered a free virtual consultation and I was able to talk to staff and Dr Portuese. Searching on Google Maps for a facial plastic surgeon and plastic surgeons near me and lots of plastic surgery clinics and businesses came up in Seattle WA. After reading the reviews, reviewing the before and afters, The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center was my first choice. I was considering a rhinoplasty revision because I felt my first nose job was botched. So thankful for the free virtual consultations process and availability for surgery. Dr Portuese stated that a revision rhinoplasty was most likely needed. The costs of the surgery, operating room, anesthesia, surgeon fees, recovery was all explained to me. Thank you for making this process simple and for being so thoughtful.

I see that you currently are offering free virtual consultations for rhinoplasty.. ok.. probably a issue with Covid.. answered my own question.. thanks.. setting that up now..

How old do you have to be to have rhinoplasty? I have a daughter that is 16 yrs old and she is interested in a nose job. She has my permission but is she old enough or should I wait?

Shelli Richardson | Aug 12, 2022
Jayce Mavros | Aug 13, 2022

It is possible to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure at age 16 for a woman, but age 18 for young men. It's important that the facial bones have quit growing before undergoing a cosmetic rhinoplasty. Since they are minors until they have reached the age of 18, parental consent is also necessary

Jayce Mavros | Aug 13, 2022

How is a chin implant placed?

The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 12, 2022
The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 13, 2022

Placement of a chin implant can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. If the chin implant procedure is performed simultaneously with another surgical procedure such as a facelift, neck left, or rhinoplasty, then both procedures are performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. If general anesthesia is used, this is administered by a Board Certified Physician Anesthesiologist. The implant itself is placed through a short submental incision, usually under local anesthesia.

Chin implants are placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Anticipate approximately 2 weeks swelling after the initial surgical procedure. The incision is made in the submental crease underneath the chin and approximately 3-4 sutures are placed to close that incision. Post-operative pictures are taken at 4 months after the procedure once the swelling has subsided

Where are the incisions located for upper and lower blepharoplasty procedure?

The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 12, 2022
The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 13, 2022

The incision for upper eyelid surgery is located directly in the upper eyelid crease, and extends out into the crow’s feet wrinkle laterally. Dissolvable sutures are used to close the incision. The fat bags located in the lower lids are removed thru a trans--conjunctival approach on the inside of the lower lid. If there is excess skin at rest in the lower lids, then a pinch technique of extra skin is removed at the sub-ciliary line directly below the eyelashes. This incision is closed with tissue glue. No sutures are required for the lower lid surgery.

What is the goal of lower eyelid surgery?

Chris Cundick | Aug 12, 2022
The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 13, 2022

The goal for a lower blepharoplasty procedure is twofold. The primary goal when performing a lower eyelid procedure is to remove the fat bags creating the puffy look. If there is excess skin in the lower lids at rest (not when smiling), then a conservative amount of skin can be removed to tighten the loose skin in the lower lids.

What are the goals of upper eyelid surgery?

Chris Cundick | Aug 12, 2022
The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center (Owner) | Aug 13, 2022

The goal for upper eyelid surgery is to remove excess skin and fat which creates the tired or hooded look on the upper eyelids. This procedure effectively rejuvenates the upper eyelids. Some patients get an improvement in their peripheral vision, which is considered a functional blepharoplasty.

How many times does the plastic surgeon need to see me after my nose surgery? Traveling from out of town

Christine Hoppy | Aug 12, 2022

Typically, I will see patients approximately one week postoperative, one month, three months, six months and one year to check on the final healing phases of rhinoplasty surgery.

Is a preop visit for my rhinoplasty surgery necessary?

Christine Hoppy | Aug 12, 2022
Dr William Portuese | Aug 13, 2022

All patients have a preop appointment with one of our nurses. For the out-of-town patients, this can be done over the phone. Pictures are taken, a thorough health history is reviewed, and all medications are recorded. It is at this time, within two to three weeks prior to the surgery that any needed laboratory or medical testing will be performed.

What about nausea and vomiting after cosmetic surgery?

Christine Hoppy | Aug 12, 2022
Dr William Portuese | Aug 13, 2022

There are three sources of nausea and vomiting after nasal surgery. The first is from the actual anesthetic itself, which can last the first 12 hours postoperatively. After that, the nausea and vomiting can be related to taking pain medicine or swallowing blood down the back of the throat. We ask patients, if they are not actively bleeding, to taper off the pain medicine and to just take Tylenol to eliminate that nausea and vomiting. We also prescribe anti-nausea pills that are taken the day of the surgery to help with postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Is there blood work that I will need to have before my nose job?

Christine Hoppy | Aug 12, 2022
Dr William Portuese | Aug 13, 2022

Depending upon your medical conditions; if you are taking a diuretic, a potassium level will need to be performed within the week before the surgery. Men 45 and over and women 55 and over will need a recent EKG within six months of the date of the surgery to make sure that there are no heart issues. Patients who have high blood pressure need to be taking their current medications to make sure that their blood pressure is under control going into the surgery. This helps prevent nose bleeds in the postoperative period.
