It nice to see where the oil industry had smaller hits at. It was there in 1901that it got the start.

The small industrial looking patch is the actual 1901 location of the gusher. People often confuse the museum, which sits on the campus of Lamar University as the original site. The museum on campus is NOT the original site. It’s a recreation of the town that cropped up. This small park with placards is the site of the actual original gusher. The review down below by “Nobody Special” is incorrect. If you visit the museum, their brochure on the back page has a map detailing how to get here, which is just over the train tracks, across from the RV park.

This is in the wrong location. It is NOT here, this is private industrial property. The actual Spindaltop is on Lamar University property and can be seen from the hiway.
