Vuelve a la Vida is good spot when in South Tacoma. Authentic Mexican food that tastes good and servers that are kind and attentive. With that said there are a couple things that I noticed have changed in the last 9 years I have been out of the state. I ordered a torta (Mexican sandwich). Tasted great but the sandwich was only half the size as it used to be and is more expensive now. I have pictures of the sandwich years ago and was disappointed to see the result in recent times. I understand Covid-19 had a negative effect on many businesses around the world. Just because a business struggles for a bit does not mean the customers should continue to struggle with the business. If Vuelva a la Vida loosens there grip a bit and goes back closer to pre Covid prices and meal portions then I will most certainly be back. Until then, I wish this business all the best and hope to be back soon:)

I really love this place. The best Mexican diner I’ve ever been to. The music, the murals, the staff, the “divey” beach theme. The portions are big. The food is good. The menu is awesome. The drinks are good. The stews and fish are great. There is room for improvement on several items (bay shrimp ceviche tastes too much like tomato juice). But overall so so solid.

Ordered through doordash the night prior to pick up. Vuelve a la Vida confirmed my order the next morning for 11:30 am pick up. I ordered 1 lb shrimp and received about 1/4 lb. I ordered 2 meat quesadillas and neither had meat. I ordered 14 fried jalapeños and received 5. I needed this food for a work party for 40 people and was highly disappointed by the amount of food missing from my order. when I arrived at the restaurant to pick it up, they needed to see the order because although the app said it was being prepared, they did not even know about the order until I arrived. The order was clearly thrown together last minute, and done incorrectly. I am beyond disappointed and will never be back.

The salsa is one of my biggest influences on whether or not the restaurant is great, next is the food and then price. The salsa was 2/10 the food was 7/10 good carne asada, but $15 for a cesadilla is too much after tip its $20. Ridiculous
