Hello M.C., Magnesium L-Threonate consists of elemental Magnesium bonded to the L-Threonate molecule. (This is true for other forms as well, for example Magnesium Citrate is elemental Magnesium bonded with citric acid.) The total weight of the Magnesium L-Threonate molecule per serving is 2000 mg, but since the L-Threonate molecule is heavier than the elemental Magnesium only 144 mg of the total is the elemental Magnesium) This is true for all magnesium supplements, but the particular ratio will change from type to type based on the weight of the molecule the elemental magnesium is bonded to. The rice flour is used to ensure an even capsule fill, as the capsule filling machines always fill up the capsule completely so the active ingredient is mixed with rice flour in the correct ratio to ensure each capsule has the proper dosage.
