I am veteran. I showed up with my DD-214 in hand. All those previous comments about help and meeting Vets is old news. I am homeless and living in my car. I applied for a job as a forklift driver and am waiting for a call for my interview. I asked if I could sit for a bit and charge my phone as I am getting low on gas in my car and litteraly down to two dollars. I was promptly turned away. Don't look for help here.

Tacoma Vet Center provides Outpatient Behavioral Health Counseling for Combat Veterans and Military Sexual Trauma Survivors as part of the VA's Readjustment Counseling Services Division. Counselors are Veterans and Combat Veterans as well. Our Outreach office provides resource referrals regarding employment and education.

Staffed by the VA but separate system, so confidentiality (except mandatory reporting or course) is assured. This won’t affect your rating or employability unless YOU want it to! There’s one on ones as well as groups. Great people, and lots of the staff are vets themselves so they get it. Coffee on tap, too :-)

This is one of the places that all VETS will want to go to get help of any kind.

Yes they do
Yes just bring your dd214 or a copy of your discharge and they will see you or make a appointment
Samantha, Tacoma Veterans Center helps all veterans regardless of age. They are helping me for PTSD. I do not know what all they help with there. Your best bet is to call them and ask what all they can help you with. For physical illness you might have to go to the American Lake VA Hospital. Hope this helps. Thanks for reaching out. If I can help you let me know. Chief Michael USN RET 253-205-4996
No Tacoma vet center is an outreach program that offers counseling and mental health services and are a completely separate entity that the regular VA system can not access to guard your identity.
No. The Veteran Service Officers in Building 16 at American Lake VA in Lakewood are from DAV, American Legion, and Military Order of the Purple Heart.
If it is a really GENERAL question.....maybe. The Tacoma Vet center really does mental health not education.
There are twice. Places that can help you the survival assistance office at Fort Lewis and the Vet Center at Orchard and Center in Fircrest
