Ballard Licensing was closed the day I wanted to transfer my out of state registration. Came here on a whim and was assisted very well for what I needed! The employees are very patient and informative. Was able to get my WA registration within a couple of hours.

The old lady that was in the left corner next to the wall. She was wearing glass she’s about 5’2-5’4. She is racist and rude were 2 women or color. Both us us different races (black, Asian) . There’s previous reviews about that place being racist.

I stopped in here today to get my plates after moving from out-of-state. The service was fast and efficient, and the woman helping me was great. And for all the reviews that say they don't answer the phone- they answered for me, and I got the answer I needed (to know what to bring in) before going in.

Don't bother calling this place, they will never pick up the phone. if you want service you MUST wait in line in the parking lot. Staff isn't necessarily rude but it seemed like they were intentionally giving me a hard time. Moved here from out of state and the lady assisting me tried to tell me my documents weren't valid because they were a few years old. Thankfully her coworker stepped in and let her know that they were valid. One employee had a shirt on that read "Not today, Karen" Seriously, avoid this business unless you are just picking up tabs you ordered online.

You cannot. The "Licensing" in the title is for vehicles. They get people coming in with that misconception often enough that they have and give out little prepared papers with the addresses of the only two driver's license places around here: Downtown and Shoreline.
You will need to go in the first time, but not until *after* you go to a WA-DOL office to get a washington drivers license. Here is a more in-depth explanation of the transfer process: https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/moving.html & Heres a list of DOL offices: https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/dsdOffices/m/driverOfficeList.aspx
Yes.
No, you have to go to a DOL (Department of Licensing) office to get a state ID / Drivers license. Find one here: https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/dsdOffices/m/driverOfficeList.aspx
Yes and you can get license plates. You cannot renew you're license though.
Yes you can do this here. They process the request and mail you your new license.
Hi Shauna, Yes you can. Nick - University License Agency.
Yes! You can also renew online through Washington DOL and pick up tabs here.
No it is walk in only
No, just car licensing related stuff like registration and tabs.
Yes, but there is a small surcharge.
Call the Wa state department of licensing.
Immediately. Just show ID and they'll either have it printed for your already or they'll print your registration for you on the spot and hand you your new tab.
Anytime, but not at this agency. They do not do driver’s license renewal.
You will need a WA drivers license
There is no "WA DMV" per se, those duties are split between the DOL & privately run licensing offices. In a sense, this IS a DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) in that it handles WA state vehicle titles/registrations ...although it is not a DOL (department of licensing)...perhaps the better question is: why don't we have a consistent/coherent national system for our vehicle/drivers licensing, to avoid confusion when crossing state lines?
Fees are posted on their website
Not sure, try calling they are friendly and responsive
Yes.
You should get them right away.
