Well, we ordered some cabinets four weeks ago and they were supposed to be there this week but now they come out in two weeks and we'll see later what they say

Our project started on Monday, November 15, 2021, with a phone call by the designer letting me know that they were planning to be there in thirty minutes. The project manager said that he had tried to contact us the week before, but that was not the case. We had no missed calls, voicemails or emails. This should have been the first red flag. So, an entire crew showed up to begin the demo when we hadn’t had time to clear cabinets or find a place where my dogs wouldn’t be in the way. Not the best way to start a project, but we went with it as we were excited to get started. They began by demoing the master bathroom and kitchen floor. We were left without a kitchen floor for FIFTEEN DAYS because the project manager had not communicated to the contractor that they were glue-down floors, which he doesn’t do. They ended up installing the floors the Friday after Thanksgiving – a great holiday weekend project. This was one of the many issues that arose during our project. Problems and extra expenses are expected; however, a competent project manager would have been helpful. It became an additional full-time job for me to manage the project. The project manager was not proactive, visited the house only a handful of times and never checked the contractor’s work. I was the one compiling outstanding item and issue lists. I was sending texts asking about a schedule – some days people would show up, some days they’d take a break. I don’t think it was a major ask to know who would be in and out of my house. Eventually, I started communicating directly with the contractor making me question why I was paying an outside company in the first place. I thought a project manager would help make my life easier when it ended up complicating things. Looking back, I should have gone with a local contractor; even a big box company would have been better. As I said, additional expenses were expected. But due to no one ever coming to check on supplies that were delivered or orders that were made, a lot of items were not ordered, and that in turn delayed our project and added about $4,000 in expenses. I did let our project manager know that we had some chips in the shower tile, but I guess he didn’t think that was a problem large enough to resolve. His manager hasn’t offered many resolutions outside of stepping in last minute to get a few issues fixed. To be transparent, our initial designer quit working for the company as we were finalizing designs (before we had paid for anything and scheduled the contractor). So, a new designer was brought in mid-project. She did a great job of communicating with us from beginning to end, even having to step in to solve issues that had nothing to do with her, thanks again to the lack of a project manager. Also, we had a great contractor who was very good at explaining any issues that came up and helping us to make decisions. He made sure that everything was done properly and didn’t cut corners. We are happy with the quality of the work. Any issues that we brought up were quickly addressed. We’re more than happy to work with the contractor again but will never work with Drexel again. Our bathroom floor transitions were finally installed on March 16 – four months after our project began and two and a half months after I asked about them. I thought paying a company would mean that things as straightforward as floor transitions wouldn’t slip through the cracks, especially since I’ve been asking about them for months. Save yourself some time, stress and money and find someone else for your project.
