dont expect miracles... limited hours, appointment required, and they dont handle criminal cases- nor will they refer you to a criminal attorney.

Does anyone know if they help with protection orders? I filed one and behalf of my daughter and myself against my abuser, who just got out of prison. The judge has set it for a hearing, even though I had a police report attached.

Call or visit their office in the United way building during intake hours. Call for intake hours and basic guideline requirements I’m pretty sure their phone number first rings through to a recording announcing their weekly intake days and hours

are appointments required for the applications?

Yes. First you need to call or come during their intake hours. Some days they will take your call right away, some days they will call you back. Very few people come in so good chance there wouldn’t be much waiting. Be patient, there is probably 1 person in charge of answering the calls and filling out that 3 page online form (as well as their regular duties) and if they’re lucky, one volunteer. It used to be 2 afternoons each week and morning hours 1 day each week. They have a specific form they must fill-out during this time and must adhere to strict guidelines to maintain their funding (& therefore, their existence) - certain types of cases, household income guidelines, county of residence. Then it takes several days - a week sometimes longer, to get the approval. It’s not all in their hands. They’re doing their best to help as many people as they can.

When is the next free clinic
