Our group of 7 had a small bus that was taking us around to vineyards on lake Keuka. We had a reservation for 1pm that I had made 3 months prior, and rolled up at 12:59. Immediately, an employee of the winery rushed out the front doors to tell us we were not allowed to be there, demanding to know if we had a reservation. When informed that yes, we did have a reservation she informed us that only one of us could go inside to sort it out. As the planner, and person who had made the reservation, I went in. The people inside were all staring at me because of the way the woman had been yelling at us. A gentleman showed us to a table outside where he explained that we would receive a welcome sample, a choice of flight of 4, and a final departure sample. We then sat at the table for 20 minutes waiting for the welcome sample which eventually came. The flights were served in shot glasses which is 1) an extremely light pour and 2) not a glass conducive to drinking wine. The wines were overall unimpressive, though it's possible the flavor was not at its best due to the weird serving choice. When we flagged someone down to ask about the final sample mentioned, they told us that we could choose anything on their menu. When we asked if we could see a list of choices (we did not have a menu, and they had removed the list of flight options despite us asking if we could keep one for reference) they sighed heavily and just said "anything on the menu". So we all got port because it was the only thing that had been mentioned to us. It was the best of things that we tried, but at that point we were feeling so unwelcome that we just wanted to leave. We were a bachelorette party which has a bit of a stigma, but we are also a group of professional women in our mid to late 30s and we were looking to have a nice time, sample, and then buy bottles of wine. And every other winery we visited, that's exactly what we did, spending well over a grand on cases of wine that day. We've already discussed making a return trip to the fingerlakes next year, but we won't be back to Rooster Hill.

Loved the port! We spent the night in our RV here as part of our Harvest Host membership and loved the tasting and charcuterie board. We bought a couple of bottles to take with us. Thanks for a beautiful evening on the patio.
