The Salem Twp Volunteer Fire Company #1, Station 174 was created after the consolidation of the former East Berwick Hose Company and Salem Twp Volunteer Fire Companies in Salem Township Luzerne County Pennsylvania during the summer of 2009. Both companies were seeing a decline in volunteer membership and rising costs associated with maintaining a Fire Company. This consolidation will allow the former companies to officially share membership and apparatus while eliminating the duplication of services and expenses.
