Overall a very enjoyable experience and well worth the money. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Only reason I didn't give five (5) stars to the review was the tramcars on the Dark ride lost power to the speakers on each car, making hearing what the guide said on the tour extremely difficult, although she did speak up and tried to compensate.

Highly recommend this tour!!

The place is fun if you like the mines and the history behind them, the general pass has two routes, one by train and the other by little trucks that pass along the mine and explain things to you. It's a little cold so I recommend bringing something warmer than a sweater.

This active salt mine is a very interesting tour. You will see how the salt is processed. All the employees are friendly and very informative. This is a great stop if you are driving through the area.

It's normally 68°so if you get chilly you might take a light jacket just in case and also you won't want to fix your hair up too nice or wear a hat, they do have hard hats to be worn. I wanted to let you know that they are closed on Monday's and in my opinion it's nice to plan a morning tour and then eat at Carriage Crossing!
It's about 60 degrees in the mine all year. I personally recommend a jacket, jeans, and close-toed shoes.
Strataca is OPEN Labor Day, 9:00am until 5:00pm with the last tour at 3:00pm. Reservations are recommended as it is a holiday, they can be made online at underkansas.org/tickets or by calling tomorrow. Thanks for asking and we hope to see you tomorrow😀
32.00 each if you add the extra dark tour which is a total of 3 underground tours. I would highly recommend all 3 tours...total for 2 people is 64.00. I had a blast and there is sooo much to see. You get to bring home samples of black, red and white salt in a bag that they furnish as well. Great history too
Yes we can on everything but the train, you would have to walk about 50 feet to get to the train.
It is open Sunday, from 1-5. Normal hours are 9-5 and the only day it's closed is Monday.
Sounds like somebody is way high☘️
They encourage you to take lots of pictures and enjoy your time. Very camera friendly. Just keep in mind the size of the camera your taking because of the elevator ride.
Depending on which tours you choose, there are days that can be booked up to 3pm. As far as January, I don't know for sure only that it's not been made available online to book those dates. Hope this helps.
Because of health and safety rules you have to be counted in and out. Also there are miles of tunnels to have an accident or get lost in, it is vast underground and pitch dark. The tours are very good and they give you torches and turn floodlights on so you can get a real appreciation of what is/has been done. A lot of it is in worker waggons, so you also cover far more ground than you would do on foot. It is well worth the money.
You have up to 24 hours before your tour time to modify your ticket. You have to call us to do so. 620-662-1425 After that you will need to find someone else to bring as your ticket can not be refunded. Thank You
Yes on the north side of parking are long angled spots for buses and motor homes
Part of it would be they don't have hard hats that fit them and you have to wear one while down there.
My dad has a defibrillator and he works part-time down in the mind as a tour guide he's 100% pacemaker dependent
They must be at least 4years old to go underground.
Depends on the tour you buy. But four hours of awesome. Take the full tour its worth it.
It's because they will not keep the hardhat on and because they are too small to use other safety equipment. By the way the elevator is 80 square feet, it's not dangerous at all its just the equipment issue
It's about 650 ft under ground and you get a 15 min team ride. The dark ride is worth the extra $$. Don't know how long it is but it is Hugh
You will not be allowed to take food or drinks down with you. You can buy drinks and snack underground and eat them in the designated area
I believe it was $19. We were there all afternoon and weren't quite finished but a super helpful gal in the gift shop signed our admission receipt so we could come back in the morning.
I believe their website provides opening days and times.
Year-round but confirm on their website. They close for special events.
