This ER is BY FAR the best ER in the state for children. They are overloaded and super busy but every staff member was working hard, and you can tell. While we were waiting, staff checked in on us to see if we needed anything, were available for questions while we waited, and everyone was kind and nice despite being super busy. Our waiting time was just over an hour to see a provider and we were out the door in 2 hours once we had everything done - again, you could tell the staff and MD's were all invested in what they were doing and trying their best, most of all, the nurses and doctors were smiling. Excellent care.

Definitely would suggest Dr. Hess and his team. They were wonderful during my daughters surgery. The NICU team was amazing and so caring for my daughter .

We did not receive care expected from a Childrens’ Hospital. My child had a uncomplicated case of pneumonia but the doctor prescribed three different types of antibiotic “just in case of__”. I asked for testing to prove three necessary, but the doctor refused my request. Both pharmacists were concerned when I picked up his medication as 1-2 are normal protocol. I was unhappy with how the medicine was given at the hospital. They woke him up from a deep sleep with 6 syringes full of oral antibiotic. He was tired and not fully awake. He was only eating small amounts at this point so swallowing that much was overwhelming especially before fully waking up. Once it all went down. Another nurse comes in with liquid Tylenol even though he’s on ibuprofen, his fever broke, and he was eating/drinking. She tries to force that down and he throws up everywhere. We clean him up and go home. He throws everything up as we step inside. Why would a Children's hospital doctor think all that liquid medicine would stay down?! So there we were with pneumonia and no antibiotic left in his body. I try again the next day…vomit again…too much liquid meds. I go to our primary doctor and a new prescription makes him better next day. I do not recommend this Childrens ER. The hospital nurses and doctors that day were not considerate towards my child. He recovered using one antibiotic.

Went in with my 10 month old around midnight and it look us 4 hours for the doctors and nurses to see us and get us discharged. Only one doctor was on duty and she failed to give us an update as to what tests she thought should be ordered, and next thing we knew the nurses were coming in to do a full workup that I never agreed to. By the time I got the results back 3 hours later, I had finally got my screaming infant asleep, but the doctor wanted me to wake her up to giver her a shot for antibiotics that could have easily been given the next day. I refused to wake up my baby, and the doctor argued with me for several minutes before finally agreeing to discharge us with a prescription. I received much better care from the Children's Hospital down the street, and I will never go here again.

There is a very small gift shop in the South Building or Masonic Children's Hospital. It is likely closed at this time. It is near the main entrance of the South Building near where security sits and to the right of the family resource center.
