I went there with my service do in training.......trying tohelp keep my asthma under control.......under the Ada rules&guidelines she was protected to be able to go in........all I can say is njoy the Ada fine for refusing her access after I got the ok from 2 other librarians.........

Love the library! It's so modern and clean. The staff are welcoming friendly and always eager to help. Great selection of books and resources. The only thing that I would add is another scanner.

Hi Natalie, Thanks for your interest in the Library! We prefer volunteers to be at least 16 years old, but depending on the tasks assigned an exception might be made. The WiFi is actually free to everyone, even if you do not have a library card! In fact, there is free WiFi that extends beyond the building 24/7. However, you must have a library card to check out the mobile hotspots.

From library website: Residents of the City of Joplin are entitled to a free library card. The applicant must supply proof of current address. Acceptable as proof of address are: utility bill or computer generated mail with name and address dated within the last 30 days, or current insurance card dated within the last 30 days. Not acceptable as proof are: printed check, personal mail, Library cards, rent receipts or lease agreements, voter registration card or driver’s license (unless dated within the last 30 days), and business cards. Someone who owns property inside the city limits is also entitled to a free card, regardless of the place of residence. A property owner must provide the current property tax receipt and proof of address as listed above. A JPL library card is not to be used by anyone other than the individual to whom it is issued. There are several Japanese audiobooks - if you count those designed to teach you to speak Japanese. I found that answer by consulting the online library catalog.

Can i print a letter off my phone on the printer here?

If it's an email, you would just log into your email on a computer here and then print it off. We cannot print directly from phones. If you don't have a library card, you can use the computers for 15 minutes per day for free, $1 for 45 minutes, and $2 for 1.5 hours. Card holders in good standing can use computers for up to 1.5 hours per day. You can call the Computer Lab 417-623-7953 for further info.

Prints are $.10 for B/W and $.25 for color. With a library card in good standing, you can use a computer for 1.5 hours per day. If you have no card, you can use one 15 minutes for free, 45 min for $1, or 1.5 hours for $2. If you live within the city limits of Joplin (as defined by the City) there is no additional charge to get a library card -- your property taxes pay for your card.
