Picture it, I-25, 2022. I'm just trying to make it back to Eugene after driving to Norman, OK, to pick up a car for my son to use at college. I've got the 2014 Camry, a whiny pseudo adult, and a back seat packed with dead grandpa's vintage clothes HE INSISTS HE WILL WEAR (he won't wear them, mark my words) when the sound starts. I still have 19 hours to go and have already done this god-awful trip one way. When the failed attempt at turning up the radio to drown out the sound leads to shaking, I pull off the highway and pull up the google to find somewhere to go. Turns out there are lots of places to go for car things. First, we try a tire shop (shaking, sounds, could be tires, right?). They took one look, said they thought it was transmission related, and recommended I head to the AAMCO down the street. Julius was a star. Not only did he stay late as we pulled up right at closing, he somehow made the pseudo adult NOT WHINY. His personality was worth it, but the fact he made sure the transmission was fixed under warranty (thanks, grandpa!) was terrific and we were on our way the next afternoon. He could have easily taken advantage of me because I didn't even know we had one. I'm so glad it happened right when it did because the service was A+, and it wasn't Kansas.
