I have worked at Mesa Vista of Boulder as an Activities Associate for almost two years now and wanted to offer my opinion. I have heard Mesa Vista has not always had the best reputation, but over the years I have worked here, I have seen improvement in it as a place to work and stay. Yes, there is always room for improvement, and there will always be challenges. First, I think upper management has greatly improved, compared to the previous upper management. The people of the current management, particularly the building administrator, care so much more about the employees and residents and do show it. I at least think they have good intentions. Just get to know them. I think there are many employees in all departments who genuinely care about the residents and who have good intentions as well. The matter is keeping them. Yes, I think some employees are on their phone too much when they should be focused on the residents. I also think there can be a lot of drama at times, but what workplace doesn't have drama? Lastly, I think Mesa Vista has had the challenge of employee shortage and turnover for some time, but what healthcare organization is not facing this challenge right now? There are many from what I have heard. Overall, I genuinely want and hope the best for Mesa Vista of Boulder, especially for the residents. It has certainly not been an easy place to work, but that is because of the nature of it being a skilled nursing facility and some of the residents who reside in it.

Mesa Vista is the most unprofessional place I have ever worked at! The majority of staff sit on their phones all day and don't take proper care of the residents. Management is terrible! I do not recommend working or bringing family/loved ones to live there.

Mesa Vista of Boulder just served me the best meal I’ve ever had in any institutional setting! And I’ve been in a bunch over the course of the past 20 years . . . Jails, prison camps, homeless shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes. Today I ordered one of the lunch alternatives, egg roll and a delicious rice/vegetable/meat casserole (double portion). It was obviously homemade, and I washed it all down with a large black coffee. I couldn’t have dreamed of such great fare at my former home in Thornton. Kudos to the kitchen staff at Mesa Vista for having both the culinary expertise and the pride in their work to turn out what I’ve enjoyed eating since arriving on Friday.
