My Dad was the engineer in charge of the hospital in the mid to late sixties. He was a colonel and we lived on base. This was during the height of the Viet Nam war. Many of the injured soldiers ended up at Fitzsimmons. It was an incredible hospital for amputees and brain injuries. I was in my teens and it really made me grow up to see these young men that had the most horrific injuries; they weren’t much older than me.

I was a patient, 15 years old in 1971. My Dad was a Navy hospital admin who had retired in 1968. I was at Fitzsimons for several tests of an exclusive nature, finally diagnosed with adolescent migraines. The staff was very friendly and helpful, it was only 1 of 2 hospital visits in total. Great memories and and a really cool old building, I'm glad they didn't tear it down! 😏

My Dad,was in the Air Force. He was stationed at Buckle. When I was about 5 years old. A kid that was playing with my brother. Threw a dart into the air. It hit me in my right eye. My Mom and dad rushed me to Fitzsimons . The doctor used a new thing they called a Lazer. To fix the damage. I don't remember how long I was there. However, it was a long time. They saved my eye. I'm now 57 years old and my eye doctor said I have vary little scar damage. That they did a great job. I wish I knew the names of the doctor and the nurses that took such good care of me. I wish to thank all of them.
