My daughter, my husband and I all enjoyed the ride of today. Taking the train in the forest is wonderful. Thank you very much.

Awesome Easter egg hunt. Getting to ride the train before we left made it that much more special. I do however recommend bundling up before you get on the train! My 4 year old said he was "nice and toasty warm" for the ride. Myself, not so much. Lol

Last day of the season at Kitsap Live Steamers. They had 3 trains running so the lines were short. It takes about 12 minutes for the train to make it's way through the forest. There were no actual steam powered trains running today due to the weather.

It runs only 2nd and 4th Saturdays. The train rides were fun and the queue was manageable. We actually did a lot of rides and took lot of videos. My 4 year old was delighted as he is rail fan. The staff/volunteers were courteus and caring.

Online, Kitsap live steamers i live right around the corner and partake frequently with my children and have for years all the way up to my teenagers that were at the time ages 2, 4 ,and 6 years old. No big deal I was just curious about the information I missed. We will see you again with out 13month little girl and 3 month little boy. You guys are great for doing what you do. Thank you all
Our track gauge is 7 1/2" between the rails. So any train that has it's wheels set to this gauge will run on other tracks (clubs). I personally have run my engines on 12 different tracks between Canada and Oregon. The largest model railroad know as Train Mountain has over 30 miles of this gauge track. The smallest gauge that is practical to give rides on is about 4 3/4" between the rails. A good website to check out is "discover live steam.com". Also ask for a tour of our facility. We can answer all of your questions. Ken Olsen The scale of our trains varies. From 1 1/2" to 3" to the foot. However, what ever the scale, the trucks must fit between our rails. The 1 1/2" is referred to as the closest gauge to the full size trains. The 3" would be what is referred to as a narrow gauge scale. Full size trains were gauged to run on 4' 8 1/2" measurement between the rails. Many logging trains were full size engines but ran on 3' track thus referred to as narrow gauge engines.
The trains start running in April. That is the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month starting in April up through October. There are other runs on some Sundays and holidays. For the full schedule, open our website, www.kitsaplivesteamers.org and click on "Calendar". Thank you, Ken Olsen
No
They don't do them everyday, usually only a few times a month.
All ages welcome. Just keep hands and feet in, and enjoy the ride.
Maybe a quarter to half mile depending on the track.
Depends what route they're running, but expect a roughly 5-10 minute ride.
