I went down here alone one afternoon. I liked the monument itself, but as I walked up Morgan Street towards Pershing Road, a car load of shady characters was scoping me out. Thank goodness there was a train coming through and a lot of cars backed up. Who knows what would have happened otherwise.

50 years ago I would travel there with my dad from Iowa. There used to be a big hotel there and also a big auditorium....I can remember going to a 3 ring circus there...lol. Does anyone remember the name of the hotel or auditorium?
