Great doctors and residents. Complicated surgery turned out better than expected.

Dr. Hansen is amazing! In few short moments had plan to fix right foot~ after 2 tendon cut in accident at 7 years old causing me to lose 65% use of foot then Dr. Kenneth Singer did experimental surgery to repair at age 14 years old that partially failed caused heel bone to begin shifting under foot. Dr. Hanse fused heal and rerouted multiple tendons in foot. At believe it or not I could hardly point my toes but I have been able to wear heels. Best doctor for complex foot injuries! Worth the wait :)

3 years ago I had a achilles rupture. I asked my doctors who they would recommend for treatment and surgery. My regular Surgeon for legs had just retired and I was in need of a good new one quick. They said that UW Sig Hansen foot and ankle clinic was the place to go. So I called and asked to see Dr. Sig, who I found out was not available then, so they set me up with Dr. Steven Benirischke. I limped in the next day and had a exam with Dr. Steve. I tried to change doctors after as he was recommending no surgery and let it grow back together (I had a partical rupture 25 years before and was told the next one I would need surgery). The clinic would not let me change Docs!? So, after 6 months of reinjuries, casts and excuses I fired Dr. Steve and hired Dr. Brage to get me fixed up. Dr. Steve didn't even take notes when he would see me and when I asked for them after surgery, even though he was the one telling everyone what to do, UW did not have them and said it was his protoges" that saw me and took notes (these notes where inaccurate). That was half true as his "people" did see me but he called the shots. Dr. Brage said that my ruptured tendon was so compromised and unhealed after 6 months of Dr. Steves care that the tendon was held together by just a few stands and could have blown completely at any moment. Dr. Steve showed me his cell phone picture of my tendon ( I guess he was in the operating room) and said he still was sure he could grow it back together. Dr. Brage, who I told about this and happened to walk into the recovery room at the time, immediately had heated words with Dr. Steve about my care. Dr. Brage's assisant put it this way, I should have had the surgery 6 months ago. 3 years later I am still recover8ing because it took so long to get fixed that my leg muscles went away completely...not a good experience with Dr. Steve for me.
