Illinois law now allows for direct access to physical therapy without a physician referral/prescription. However, federal insurance plans (ie Medicare, Tricare) do still require a referral. As we pre-verify benefits and coverage for each new patient, we can let you know up-front whether your insurance plan has any requirement for a physician referral.
