I've had the WORST experience with their billing department. For 6 months we received calls stating our account is going to collections, yet when I call back, they cant find those details on my account. Our insurance showed payment and nothing was owed, yet we repeatedly received calls from their billing. When I asked to speak with someone who could look at the details, I was told they couldn't call their A/R department. After 6 months of back and forth, I was escalated to an account manager who showed every call we made or calls made to us, and she pointed out that no one on their end had been following up with their notes. I will choose another provider in the future simply to avoid this company and their billing.

My wife had a surgery in March 2022 - all providers involved were paid, including Mountain West Anesthesia through Health Equity. Mountain West then kicked the payment back, marking the account as "unpaid" but did not call, text, email, or send any bills through the post office. 6 months later in October 2022 we get a collections notice, saying it was now delinquent and that it would impact her credit score. After several frustrating calls I finally managed to convince Mountain West Anesthesia to take payment for the original amount, without any fees paid to the collections agency as they were bogus charges. If this were a unique circumstance that would be one thing - however this seems to be systemic as other reviews online often describe the same situation - no bills, no notices, then collections. This is without a doubt the slimiest medical provider I have come across as it's not like anesthesiologists don't already make PLENTY of money, yet it seems they're scrounging for more.

The anesthesiologist was great. The billing is TERRIBLE. when i looked at my bill on their website it said my balance was $0. But what had actually happened was that they sent it to collections not even 6 months later. I used them for an epidural and now my $117 bill turned into almost $600. This company is built on taking advantage of people who are sick, new mothers, and the vulnerable. They came to my house and attempted to use scare tactics with a paper that looked like they were suing us but without a judges signature (so therefore it was meant to just scare us) when i had no idea we even had a bill to pay. I plan on taking legal action, as all of my other medical bills have been dealt with and this is the only company i am having a hard time with. I will now look into all of my mail much more thoroughly so i don’t let something like this happen again, because I’m sure i could have been more on top of it. But this 5x the amount of what i owed for at most w couple months without paying. My baby is only 10 months old and i have to deal with ruthless billing departments and collections that don’t care about their customers, it’s about money. Just another reason the American healthcare system is a mess. I am double insured and still have to deal with being gouged. If you Google this company further you find hundreds of reviews with a similar experience to mine. They not only should be ashamed, but they need to change and help the people they supposedly “take care of”.
