I was a patron for years until today. I stopped in to pick up house goods with my mom and usually I have an okay experience here but today, we picked up dish soap we usually get— right off the shelf. We never opened it or smelled it before putting it in our cart. We didn’t know it was leaking out of the bottle down the aisle until one of the employees mentioned it to us. We apologized sincerely and got a new bottle. As we were checking out everything, one of the usual employees walked in— (I believe he is the owner) he started screaming at us that we meant to do it on purpose and we meant to “destroy” his store. It was a genuine accident and we made that clear to his staff and him. He then continued and said “So you think I opened this, huh?!” I said “No, I never said that. It was an accident. It was no one’s fault.” Then he started cursing us both out calling us the worst of the worst things. We’ve shopped here for a super long time, the spill wasn’t that bad— literally a small spill you can easily wipe up, and we’re just two unarmed WOMEN shopping for house goods? We left (WITHOUT the stuff in our cart) because we weren’t going to stand for it yet, he continued to follow us out of the store asking us to pay for everything we meant to buy, continuing with the harsh profanity. If he followed another few more steps, I hate to resort to this but It was almost to the point I had to call 911. It was a very unsafe situation especially being not only women but the ONLY patrons in the store. I will never return here again for anything. There’s dozens of dollar stores in Philadelphia that is well worth the patronage.
