I can't believe I've lived in the neighborhood for 17 years and just visited the farmers market for the first time today. Organic veggies, LOTS of strawberries (great prices per box), a French bakery, wine, ice cream, a falafel truck...ALL LOCAL. There was even live music! All of the vendors accept credit cards which was very convenient. There are two lots, upper is where the market is and lower has parking. I drove this time but will likely walk in the future as parking is limited and the general area is a little crazy traffic-wise. All-in-all, it was fantastic and I'm going to try to make a trip every week until it closes in September. Happy to support local growers and artisans and the Phinney Neighborhood.

One of my favorite Puget Sound farmers markets! A great variety of vendors including tons of vegetables and fruit, lots of delicious hot food, alcohol, artisan condiments and ready to cook foods. This market has an awesome vibe, and lots of happy faces.

Great Farmers Market for a quick dash-in. Usually parking nearby and the hours are set up so most people can do a quick shopping spree after work hours. Always things to sample and a hot meal to be had on the spot. On top of that you can go into the PNA lobby and see what other upcoming events are coming to the area or wander the art gallery upstairs. Has most of what you want but not an extensive market. Always have had fantastic produce.

I'm disturbed by the gross and undisclosed "courtesy fee" of $20.00 for using my debit card at Olsen Farms and at Lyall Farms. I was charged $40, without notice, in one day at Phinney Market. Alvarez Farms had no trouble processing my purchase without doubling my cost because I used a card. I admit, I wish I had brought enough cash to keep the processing fees out of the market, but I decided to buy bulk in order to put some food by over the weekend. Nobody should ever charge $20.00 for a single card processing, especially not vendors at a farmers' market.

Questions & Answers

Is it true that you are penalized by using your debit card? Are their added costs? I read someone's comment here and hope they're wrong.

Each vendor decides what works for themselves. Us at Chubby Bunny Farm used to have a minimum purchase price to help offset the fees, but we have since removed that to better serve our customers. To put things into perspective, the fees for a single head of lettuce, $3, is $0.31, or over 10% of the cost. Purchase $10 of produce, and our fees are around $0.52, or 5% of the cost. A general if you can use cash, your vendors will love you, but a debit card is better than no sale at all!

Does Phinney Farmer's Market stay open year round?
