My wife and I recently adopted a beautiful Calico. When we took her to our vet for her initial exam she was found to have a severe ear mite infection. While we were treating her for the infection she stopped eating and stopped having bowel movements. Took her back to the vet. Liver infection. Were given three different medications that had to be administered at different times and before and after meals. Was no way my wife and I could do it properly. Called Open Door. They said they would take care of her for free. We took her to Open Door and they asked that we leave our pet carrier and put our name on it. After a week the cat was even sicker and we decided to give her up because we had spent thousands on our previous cat that was in kidney failure and we couldn't afford another high maintenance cat. When we went to pick up our carrier it had "disappeared." We have had no satisfaction in getting our carrier returned.
ocean love
i adopted blossom over a year ago & she was a very shy kitty at first and she still is (nothing wrong w it im shy too c: ) but she’s always been the sweetest since day 1. she takes a long time to warm up to new people but that’s okay since me and my bf of 8 years don’t really have people over often. blossom LOVES me and my boyfriend! she runs to the door when we get home, and will always hang out in whatever room we’re in. she LOVES her fancy feast meals as well as always available for her dry food (she’s not an overeater at all) she loves to play and lay in the sun by the sliding glass door and birdwatch. she’s also VERY sweet and cuddly. if she doesn’t sleep right next to me then she’s sleeping on a comfy throw blanket i put at the foot of the bed to make her bed more comfy. just wanted to update Open Door on Blossom! thank you guys again, we LOVE her SO MUCH!🫶🏻 adopt from Open Door!

I love this place, such a wonderful place for homeless beings, giving them a 2nd chance. I have adopted over the few recent years 6 cats from here, my fur family pride ! The staff is always friendly and helpful, the workers in the cat area spend quality time with the animals. You get with adoption , updated shots / micro chipping / and either spay or neutering, the animals get a little goodie bag with toys, collar and such, plus you get a bag of food, it’s a GREAT deal !! You get the reward of saving a soul and giving them a loving home, you get a new family member with lots of love to give in return. I love everyone of my fur babies, they are so grateful and loving . I adopted 4 females and two males, / 2 were just over a year old , the greet me every night when I get home, I was glad a co- worker recommended ODAS to me , when I got my first cat. From there never looked back………..THEY ARE SIMPLY AWESOME , I do not think you will be disappointed .

Call main office and ask for Amanda
I have five stray friendly kittens 8 weeks or so old in need of spay and neuter. Do you rescue?
First, They do not 'sell' animals. This is a no-kill shelter that has adoption policies. There are many sweet babies that need a furever home. There is a rescue place off of Little Brennon rd., that may be able to help you...
There is a mobile vet clinic that goes to tractor supply house springs on Sat or Sunday for vacinnations. Also check with Jefferson county animal hospital
U should call them they will take him if there is room
We think 15 but call them and ask
Are u asking me to take the dog?
Yes there awesome people. We just got a puppy from them
I only volunteer, So I can't give you an answer on that. Try calling their office, and ask.
I would definitely give them a call and talk to the woman in charge there . Ask her your questions and if they don't do the foster thing she can tell you many other places to get ahold of that do. Foster homes are always needed for fur babies.
Yes, Open Door offers reduced price animal food for people with low income.
I don't think that they will actually treat your pup there. But they have a network of Vetrinarians that do great work for almost nothing sometimes. If you contact them they may be able to help find an inexpensive option.
I don't know if it costs or not they might ask for a donation like most places do however I will tell you that I believe they're full on catch right now I think they have about 250 cats
It's my understanding that all animals are spayed and neutered before you take them home and it's included in the adoption cost.
Humane society $25.. schedule in advance.. ask for SNIP PROGRAM
I don't believe they sell any pet supplies; just pet adoptions.
You will have to call first and see if they have room for him
We are pretty full at the moment. But feel free to call tomorrow morning after 10 am to double check!
All dog adoptions are $150. This includes spay/neuter shots current medications if needed and small to go bag.
You can attend the volunteer class and get a t shirt, then you can volunteer with an adult because you are under 16 years old. You pay for the shirt but that is it. Call to ask when a class is.
We are looking for a cat
Hi Jamie, I love open door. They are so generous and helpful. They are also usually extremely full. I'd take her in person and explain your situation. If they can't help they can always refer you to someone else. There's also a website you can check out. Call them and they will tell you. I can't think of it right now. Sorry.
Open door is a no kill shelter . Always full of cats and kittens you would gave to call to them
I know they have a variety of pups . All shapes and sizes. You should really go look, there's lots to choose from that want and need a good loving forever home. ❤
Dog adoption is always $150. This includes the spay/neuter, shots, current medications if needed and a small to go bag
125 shots chipped fixed comes with food and other stuff awesome place
The dogs on website are the ones that have been vetted and ready for adoption. If you are looking for breed specific pups, contact breed rescues, and perhaps call ODA regularly to see if they have took in any.
The adoption fee is the same for all dogs but you can call and ask both questions
Yup we spread them all out over the sidewalk.
You can call them and ask ? I'm not sure if they foster or not ? They may be able to put you in touch with someone who does, if they don't ? Good luck !! 😊
All available information should be on their website at ODAS.ORG.
I would think that would be okay give them a call.
I believe it's $120
I would call and ask. They get animals in all the time and will likely be able to answer that quicker by phone
That I'm not sure. I've never seen anything but dogs/puppies & cats/kittens there. So, you may way to give them a call & ask them ? Good luck .
They should be able to take the kitten. Call first to make sure.
Take it to a vet or shelter to have it scanned for a microchip. It could be a stray.
You need to call the shelter to get latest info.
Ok thanksyou so much
Call them and provide proof of ownership
Dogs, puppies, and kittens are $150, and adult cats are $75. There is a senior for senior deal, where if you ate 60+ years old and you adopt a dog that is 8+ years old, it is free and food is available for free. The adoption fees cover all veting, including say/neuter, vaccinations, and microchip.
No, they are a NO KILL shelter. It's an awesome place. It's very clean and well kept. The people there are very friendly and polite. They can help to answer any & all questions you have. I can't say enough good things about this place. They do great things for dogs and cats alike !!! You can adopt a pet, get spay & neuter services , front line for fleas & ticks , alot cheaper than you can at your vets office. Like I said, the place is AWESOME !!! When I'm ready to get another dog, that's where I'm going to get my next fur baby !!!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm not sure that is the type of service that they provide. You could call them and ask, but that is the only answer I have for you. I'm so sorry.😭.
They will but usually charge a small fee. Call them and ask.
I would say yes, I am sure they have certain requirements.
I dont think so. Didnt see any medical indicators. Just pet areas and store.
You will have to call them to make arrangements
They choose what you do. Walking dogs is usually reserved for volunteers not community service. More than likely you would be cleaning up after cats.
Call them
Take them to a no kill in Stl I don't remember where it is but it has a big kitty room
They sometimes have it available or look into Bi-State pet food pantry on FB
This is an animal shelter. I would search online for animal hospitals near you.
Usually just what you can make a donation for
Sorry I don't work for Open Door Animal Sanctuary. You would need to contact them about their volunteer process.
Yes, I am not sure why the other person says they won’t recommend them without explaining why. From my experience the staff can be a little rude but I feel they are very careful about the home they place their animals. They even do home visits to make sure the home is suitable. They have disabled cats as well as cats that have other issues making them harder to adopt (Such as a very sweet cat that loves to be pet and played with but not picked up or a cat with one eye or senior cats). I have never personally adopted from them but have accompanied several friends who have over the years and been present through the whole process.
Not sure, as I volunteer with the cats. You could call the office and ask.
Cleaning supplies that are pet safe are welcome.
Yes, they do spay, but, you would have to call the office for a price...
I believe as long as they're open they will accept surrendered animals.
They will take them
They have to have someone older than 18 accompany them
Youd have to call and ask. Alot of the time they are full
