I've always avoided Pep Boys because of their management. I went there for the first time in over 20 years for a tire issue. The manager Eric was very helpful and empathetic to my situation. He has restored my perception with the location on Airline Blvd in Portsmouth.

Took my vehicle in for what I thought would be a quick state inspection only for them to fail me due to my brakes. Stated new brake service in order to pass would be $1,000. Took my vehicle to Ford for a brake inspection and they mentioned my brakes were fine, still fairly new, would pass VA state inspection and even replaced a missing spring (minor issue) for free! Took my car BACK to Pep Boys with documentation from Ford and they told me that I would still need to pay the $1,000 due to what the state inspector needed my vehicle to have in order to pass. Ended up taking my vehicle to Firestone the next morning and they passed me in 10 minutes and issued the new sticker. Avoid this place.

Yes, it’s a Pep Boys Tire and Service Center with mechanics for your car but you can’t just buy parts or products for self-service here.
It’s not closing. It is open for an oil change, repairs and for new tires but you can’t buy parts or products directly for self-service.
Wear mask stay home if possible say six feet apart from others when buying food or whatever you need when you are out...myself I don't go unless I need to see doctors or buy food...I hate how I got to live now but it's than going to boot hill!!!...😞

What's the question ? Pep Boys is reasonably priced for maintenance and repair as well as items. Sounds like a bad alternator.
