Yes there is a fee that varies

Wesley helped us get out of our timeshare. Now the owner has filed a 1099-A (Acquisition or Abandonment of Secured Property) with the IRS for $48K and we are expected to pay the tax. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how was it resolved?
