I used half and half on the butcher block countertops in my kitchen and it turned out really well. I had a question/problem with the application process (user error). I reached out to their support and was quickly helped in the right direction. Great products and great support.

Well THAT was easy. Subject: broken down antique cabinet. Work: repair, rebuild, reinforce, refinish. Painting: interior back & sides. Materials: Milk Paint (Yellow Rose). Method: just, umm, follow directions--mix 1:1 with water, shake in the can with the marble, let sit for awhile, then paint. I used the bonding additive as I was overcoating old paint. Somehow I mixed exactly enough for the first coat, and barely enough for the 2nd coat. Went on smoothly, dried fast. Slight but inoffensive odor quickly dissipated. Easy cleanup. And that was all.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for reaching out! Milk Paint can be used on a finished oak shelf. If the finish on the shelf is glossy, we recommend either sanding a way that finish or using our Ultra Bond to help the milk paint adhere to the existing finish. Real Milk Paint works best over raw, porous surfaces like raw wood, concrete, brick, etc. Hope that helps!
