First time visit to Black Bear Diner in Independence, MO. Service was prompt. Our waitress Shay was very attentive. The cost for our meal was within reason. We will be back! The fish and chips and Patti melt were delicious. Sweet tea was perfect! Apple cobbler and 5 layer chocolate cake finished off a delicious meal.

Huge portion sizes. Wide selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Presentation is beautiful and the atmosphere is inviting. Tables are spaced apart so it isn't too crowded. They serve huckleberry shakes. Staff is friendly and helpful. Their menu is newspaper style and they feature fun articles about bears. Prices are great considering the quality and quantity of the food. Family- friendly and great for casual gatherings.

I ordered the “grizzly breakfast” and holy cow! As you can see it was not finished. Definitely bought it home to eat for dinner! My husband enjoyed a burger. His first bite was followed by “ omg!” And he’s not usually one to be impressed by food. The service was just as good as the food. Will definitely return.
