Everybody gotta eat. The fair supports hundreds of small bussinesses, local family owned concessions, farms and 4 h families every year.
It costs a alot less than any other comparable event, offers free acsess to barns and live entertainment, and has multiple discount or free entry days as well.
If it doesnt fit your budget though, or you are just unable to appreciate a good time by all means stay home.
