The U.S. Coast Guard issues the Merchant Mariner Credential, (MMC). Requirements and Applications are on line at the National Maritime Center website just google NMC and it is usually the top or second option.You may also call 888-427-5662 for information.

Yes, this is the Coast Guard Regional Testing Center. We currently do not have employees who speak Spanish.
We open at 7;30 AM and Close at 3:30 weekdays except Federal Holidays. Occasionally we have to close for inclement weather or training but try to post that information on the NMC website or you can check with the call center to be sure.
There are a lot of things to consider such as your service and route requested so this question would really require an evaluation. The NMC website, www.uscg.mil/nmc/, has a tab for Checklists and the one for Mate of towing lists the requirements and includes references to the source of information. This can be very helpful for you to see what you may qualify for or need. The call center can answer questions as well.
Exit 63A off Hwy 12 the second exit will say “190 East 22 West Mandeville Ponchatoula” turn right at the bottom of the ramp then go through one light we are in the shopping center on the left across from the Shell Gas Station.
