Outstanding museum. Especially for little ones. Currently there is a dinosaur exhibit with hands on activities for kids. Very cool and under 4 is free. They also have a military discount.

It was an amazing experience to visit this museum on weekend. If you are a UW student, please bring your UW student for free admissions. It is worth the money to visit the museum because it gives you a broad knowledge of human and animal history during certain times. I am looking forward to visiting this museum again

A beautiful space that is intentional. We visited the museum on the first Thursday of the month, when it is free. It’s a relatively small museum. I really liked the design and the cultural exhibits. The awareness of impact and thought behind it is refreshing and enlightening. The coolest part is being able to see all the behind the scenes through the glass. Kids around us seemed to be enjoying the museum. Wish there were interpreters at the exhibits to help understand them better and learn. I would return for a private party if that ever happens. It’s nice for an evening out before or after dinner. It’s a museum set up best for guided learning.

A family friendly museum with lots to learn, 3 floors overall, and it covers vast natural historical topics, from distant to tangible, from life forms to cultures. Many workshops in the museum that show behind-the-scene efforts made possible for such a great museum.

Yes, would be an excellent place for your son. Excellent exhibits respecting the native people of our regionn
If you're also in the mood to shop and grap lunch, yiuncan park at University Village, and its a nice walk from there.
Roughly 15 minute drive
For 2 adults and a 9 year old on mothers day it was $55. Well worth it. Pre-order online though.
We will be closed until further notice in accordance with new policies by the State of Washington and the University of Washington. We will be sure to announce our new re-opening date as soon as we have that information. Off The Rez, the cafe located in the Burke Museum, is open every week from Wednesday-Friday so feel free to check them out!
Some of the flowers here are technically edible.... but you're not really supposed to eat them.
Sundays free parking
To The the right before you enter the university
Yes there is a fee to park. Burke is on the University of Washington Campus, and the campus parking police will give you a ticket. They have a kiosk near the entrance where you can pay for parking. Don't remember how much parking is per hour. But you enter you license plate number, and how many hours you want, and pay via credit/debit. Now about finding places to eat; there is a good restaurant/Cafe inside the Burke. If what they have there isn't your kind of food then by all means ask the entrance help desk for suggestions near Burke. The staff are wonderful and well informed, and will answer about any question you have on numerous topics related to the museum.
There is parking on the back side of the building, but there is also a garage on the opposite side of the street and down almost a block. It's a short walk up to the museum and it goes by some of the campus lawns. The lot at the building is still paid parking but much closer.

Burke Museum at UW. Great exhibit on dinosaur bones! Free the first Thurs. of the month.
This is probably best answered on their website or phone.
Leave it in an accessible place for other birbs to mourn, then bury the birb before it rots. Repeat for zombie birbs.
Wikipedia. The museums origins date to a late 1800's high school naturalist club. The collection grew and became part of the university.. 1925 Thomas Burke, successful lawyer and state supreme Court Justice died. His wife wished to memorialize him and donated funds for a building and her own native American artifact collection.
In the new building, yes. It's called Off the Rez and they have amazing food.
Yes! The museum is the only one in the state with a dino themed exhibit. I suggest you bring your 3-year old to the museum's I Dig Dinos event on Dec. 16 (check the events page of the museum website). Also, the museum is only open until the end of the month before closing most of 2019 so get in a trip to Burke soon!
Not sure if they have wheelchairs available but it is accessible for wheelchairs.
Yes, until it moves to the new building.
I'm including a link that should answer your question: https://www.burkemuseum.org/object-identification-request-form
