I just had an emergency appendectomy at West Shore. I must say it was a very positive experience and this is coming from someone with a hospital phobia.The staff was kind and upbeat. The nurses and doctors were very competent, professional and polite even though they were obviously very busy. the hospital rooms are the nicest I've seen and everything looked very clean. I was impressed they had a very good gluten free menu as well. Yes, it was a long wait in the ER but it was very busy and and I think the staff was doing the best they could. They enforced their mask policy which made me happy. I deducted 1 star for the ER wait but considering that they were able to do my surgery almost immediately once all testing was done speaks volumes.

UPMC West Shore has been an excellent experience for me from the time of arrival. I arrived needing my gull bladder checked out. Was in the door and had all pre testing finished within an hour or soand that included check in. All nurses and staff that treated me are getting 10 out of 5 stars yes that is correct. Could only give five here but they all know from me personally that in fact everyone of them went above and beyond in helping me through a very unknown process and incident personally. Thanks UPMC for meeting great expectations and beyond. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart thank you. Oh and the gull bladder i left behind thanks you too.
