What an incredibly fascinating place. Has been on my to-do list for years and I just happened to find myself in Seattle on a Sunday with several hours to burn. Seeing all the analog mechanical switching gear made me wonder how on earth any phone call was ever completed in the old days. The folks that volunteer here are patient and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend

It's been years, but being Bellheads, we spent half the day here, easy. Take your kids. Telephony is mind-expanding.

Great to visit with your dad, haha. I was shocked at how much working equipment is there to see in action. Be advised you'll be escorted around by a volunteer or two. They'll likely flood you with information, and it's not a good format to take your time! There are plaques all over the building but very little time to actually read them. I feel like I learned a lot and also not much - the subject matter is exceedingly complicated. But I'd still very much recommend, just know what you're getting into.

Wow! Awesome museum! So much things to explore there, so huge slice of history and technology. I am, personally, was impressed by exhibition of different types of cables (photo included). My son (7yo) was blown away by using retro phone with caller. We've got David as a guide through this place. He was super informative and nice. This place is truly unique: automatic machines, telephones, telegraphs and teletypes, switchboards, cables and of course incredible people! Go explore!

Questions & Answers

I have a Kellogg #605362-TC..Converted in the mid 70s(?) to a rotary dial on the inside... It is absent a magneto? ,and the mouthpiece is cracked...but the oak cabinet is in great shape. Interested in this for ur museum collection?

Hello Marybeth Thank you for contacting us! If you could take a picture or two of the telephone and send them to us via the donate items form on our web site ( https://www.telcomhistory.org/donate-equipment-historical-documents/ ) our accession review committee will look at it and get back to you soon. In general, if the object is not too similar to items we already have in the collection we are interested in accepting donated artifacts. But with some things we don't have room for another, so it helps us to have a photo.

Would you be interested in a 1959 news article about my family receiving Washington's 100,000th telephone?

You should probably contact the museum directly instead of posting your question to other Google users.
